The Brief

Unity Cosmetics is a hypoallergenic cosmetics brand based in the Netherlands, selling across Europe since 2010. Their old store on Lightspeed eCom had outgrown the platform: rigid templates that did not match the premium brand, percentage fees on every transaction, no real-time stock visibility, no deep analytics, and no way to add the custom workflows their operations team needed. They wanted a custom design, a real e-commerce operations layer, and a portal that consolidated everything they were juggling across separate tools.

Premium Brand Experience

The homepage opens with a cinematic hero tied to the product story (hypoallergenic, made in Europe, cruelty-free), a live Deal van de Week with countdown timer, and category showcases for Ogen, Lippen, Gezicht and Accessoires. Trust signals (free shipping over fifty euro, 14-day returns, hypoallergenic certified) sit above the fold. A bestsellers carousel surfaces top SKUs without the customer having to browse.

Smart Product Browsing

Every collection page renders 100+ products with live stock counts, hypoallergeen badges, and advanced filtering by colour (16 options), undertone (warm, cool, neutral), and product family (potloden, mascaras, eyeshadows, palettes). Colour swatches render the actual product colour so customers see what they are buying before they click. Out-of-stock items can be toggled visible so returning customers can request restocks.

Custom Checkout and Customer Migration

Checkout runs on Pay.nl (Dutch-native, no Shopify percentage fees, supports iDEAL, Bancontact, credit cards). When Unity migrated from Lightspeed, we built a lazy customer migration: 4,000+ historical customers and their order history kept working without anyone needing to re-register. New customers checkout in one flow, returning customers see their full history. Multi-currency checkout supports NL, DE, FR and EN markets.

Full Operations in One Portal

Through the Nurani client portal, Unity manages everything from one place. 379 products with real-time stock states (Op voorraad, Lage voorraad, Niet op voorraad, Informeer beschikbaarheid). Order pipeline from inbox to fulfillment. Returns. Customer database. Marketing tools (Deal van de Week, kortingscodes, campagnes). Shipping management with MyParcel for European orders and Sendcloud for international (mostly USA), where the operator picks the carrier per order. Content Studio for live homepage and product page edits. No switching between five separate tools.

Live Analytics, Built In

The portal shows real-time website performance without anyone needing to open Google Analytics. Visitors, engagement, conversions, and traffic sources update live. The last 30 days show 873 visitors, 72.5 percent engagement, top sources Google (86 percent) and ChatGPT (3 percent, meaning the site is being recommended by AI search), traffic from 70+ countries with Germany leading at 62 percent. Geographic heat-mapping by country and city shows where to invest next.

The Results

Unity has 379 SKUs managed live, 1,053+ verified reviews across the catalog, and traffic from 70+ countries. The site is being indexed and recommended by AI search engines (ChatGPT 3 percent of source traffic) alongside traditional Google. Operations that used to require Lightspeed plus three separate SaaS tools now run from one portal. Migration kept every historical customer and order intact.
