The Brief
Cleygaerd is a nature campsite and tea garden tucked away in an ecological horticultural area near Lelystad. Despite being a beautiful, unique destination with camping spots in an orchard, a retro caravan, a tea garden, and a brocante shop, it was essentially invisible online. Potential guests couldn't find it through search, and booking required a phone call. The owners needed a website that captured the soul of the place and made it easy for visitors to discover, explore, and book.
Online Booking System
The old process was simple: call the owner, hope they pick up, arrange dates over the phone. We replaced that with a full online booking flow. Each accommodation has its own card with photography, size specifications, a description of the setting, and a direct booking button. Guests can browse four camping spots in the orchard and forest, plus a charming retro caravan with veranda and outdoor kitchen. Pricing is transparent with stackable discounts for early booking and longer stays. The entire system works on mobile, which is where most travelers search.
Atmosphere-First Design
A nature campsite needs a website that feels like nature, not like a booking platform. The design uses warm greens and purples drawn from the Cleygaerd brand, generous whitespace, and large photography throughout. The recreation page presents nearby attractions as browsable cards with a rotating postcard-style photo, from Natuurpark Lelystad and Bataviastad to the Markerwadden islands and cycling routes. SEO foundations ensure the campsite now appears when people search for nature camping near Lelystad, and bilingual support serves both Dutch and international guests.
Interactive Photo Book
Instead of a standard photo gallery, visitors can flip through an interactive online photo book showcasing the campsite's grounds, tea garden, and surroundings. The pages turn just like a real book, letting guests browse nature photography of the orchard seating areas, garden tables, and pond views at their own pace. It gives a feel for the atmosphere that a grid of thumbnails never could.
Visual Editor
Cleygaerd manages all website content through a visual editor in the client portal. Click any text or image on the live site preview, edit it directly, and see the changes in real time. The tea garden description, accommodation details, pricing, and photography can all be updated without touching code. Write the update in Dutch and it automatically translates to English for international guests. The owners update seasonal menus, event announcements, and availability without ever needing a developer.
Live Insights
The portal gives Cleygaerd real-time visibility into their website performance. The insights dashboard tracks 82 visitors, 38 search clicks, 53.1% engagement rate, and 16 conversions over the last 30 days. Google is the primary traffic source, which means the SEO foundations are working.
